OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

For National Poetry Month: 4/10/15

It is hard for me

to turn off the lights illuminate,

to hear the words of silence,

to sit alone in darkness,

and let the sand of time

fall unnoticed.

Stand with fixed gaze upon the glass for me;

tic the tiny dots,

entering them into your book:

add – subtract – divide

multiply,

and while the body keeps its own

measure of breaths

– measured by beats

and heaping cupfuls of living

arrange,

please,

all of these

into your composition.
