Poem: 6/29/2015:

In a surprising way

my arm stretched out

grew ten more inches

like putty

exceeding limits

constraints were evaded

with libertine will;

strong headed,

and unheeding

of yellow cautionary tales;

shape multiplied distance

to the power of need.

Also, the serpentine hand

and spidery fingers

grew unexpectedly,

circumvented obstacles,

increasing length,

grasping and seeking

while the rest of the body

unsure of action

(having been conditioned

to navigating

according to lanes

and marked boundaries

which were clearly

found lacking

on the Outside),

began to wobble

like a finished top

fell over precipice –

nearly disappeared,

but thank heaven

the arm had thought quickly,

pulled body to safety,

and prevented harm.
